Spring Gardens Shopping Centre is hosting a trade fair, coordinated by the West Derbyshire branch of the education charity, Young Enterprise, which aims to equip young people to learn and succeed through enterprise.
Twelve teams of students aged between 15 and 19, will descend on centre on Thursday, 25th February, to showcase a variety of goods, most of which they have made themselves.
“The scheme is designed to give youngsters an insight into business and to inspire them to ‘learn by doing’. All participants are expected to operate in a professional manner as they would in the workplace,” said Chris Woodhouse, chair of the Young Enterprise’s West Derbyshire Area Board.
“The youngsters have been encouraged to be innovative and creative in the ways they market their products to Buxton’s shoppers.”
Students will be showcasing a whole range of products including; eco friendly goods, fashion accessories and ornaments.
In addition, two awards will be up for grabs on the day; Spring Gardens Centre Manager, Diana Golding will be visiting each of the stalls to judge the best product or service and the best trade stand will be judged by the manager of the centre’s Next store, Linda Clark.
Speaking about the upcoming event, Diana Golding said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for these youngsters to get some valuable hands-on experience in business and retail. I’m really excited about visiting each stall and finding more out more about them.”
Students will be trading at Spring Gardens Shopping Centre from 9am – 5:30pm.
